Capitalism comes dictating its own laws: life forces man to join a frenzied race, and if he is incapable of competing in it or just not cynical enough, he is thwarted by catastrophe. We are receding ever farther from familiar social constructs, the number of failed hopes multiplies, exhaustion and disappointment mount up…

My works are about ordinary existence, everyday life. In my photographs I try to convey a basic level of the everyday that everyone shares, no matter how different people may be in their hopes and their loneliness. My texts are minimal statements, striving to capture the quintessence of everyday speech, and consequently these statements are universal.

In the frame of the artist-in-residence exchange programme BLACK SEA CALLING, the Armenian artist Mher Azatyan spends one month in Graz. .

Mher Azatyan lives and works in Yerevan, Armenia.
